Deploy your first application
Give Hallvi a GitHub repository. It deploys the application to your server, checks it, and gives you a private link.
In short
- You need a ChatGPT plan, and Hetzner or a Linux server of your own. Hallvi asks for each account when it needs it.
- Hallvi asks where the application runs and how it deploys. A command that waits for you does not run until you approve it.
- Create the application's administrator account through the private link, before you publish it.
- YouAddthe repository
- HallviReads itand explains
- YouChoosewhere it runs
- YouChoosehow it deploys
- HallviDeploysand checks
- YouOpenthe private link
Before step 3
New applications use Hallvi decides, which can rent a server without asking. To approve every command, switch to Always ask at the bottom left of the message box. See Permission modes.
| Step | What to know |
|---|---|
| 1. Add | Paste https://github.com/owner/repository and press Add application. For a private repository, connect GitHub first. |
| 2. Read | Press Read repository. Hallvi explains the application and where to host it, and changes nothing. |
| 3. Where | Rent a new server on Hetzner, or Use a machine I already have. See A server. |
| 4. How | Automatically when main changes, or Only when I ask. Automatic deployment needs a GitHub connection. A public repository with Only when I ask does not. |
| 5. Deploy | Approve the commands that wait for you. Type secret values into the password field Hallvi shows. |
| 6. Open | Open the link, such as http://127.0.0.1:4757, on the computer running Hallvi. Create the administrator account now, while the application is private. |
Success looks like
- You can use the application through the private link.
- The conversation says what Hallvi checked, and what it could not check.
- The Deployment page shows the running release and its commit.
Hetzner bills a rented server by the hour until it is deleted. Hallvi does not delete it when you are done. Delete it in the Hetzner Console, or ask Hallvi to.
Next
- Publish it at a public address or your own domain.
- Deploy automatically on every push.
- Keep working in the conversation.
