Connect your accounts
Hallvi asks for each account in the conversation, at the moment it needs it.
- Every setup needs ChatGPT. To deploy, you also need Hetzner or a Linux server of your own.
- Connect GitHub for private repositories or automatic deployment, and Cloudflare only to publish at your own domain.
- Hallvi keeps the tokens on your computer. Connecting an account changes nothing by itself.
Connecting changes nothing by itself. What Hallvi does next follows the permission mode.
ChatGPT
Press Connect ChatGPT, then Open ChatGPT, enter the code and approve. Hallvi never sees your password. It supports ChatGPT plans only, with no API keys or other providers. New setups use GPT-6 Sol. You can change the model on the ChatGPT & model page in Settings.
Your messages go to OpenAI, with what the agent reads, such as repository files and command output. Your plan's limits apply.
A server
After reading your repository, Hallvi asks Where should it run?
| Rent a new server | Use a machine I already have | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Hetzner Cloud, in your account | Any 64-bit Linux server you can SSH into, x86_64 or arm64 |
| You give | A Read & Write API token for one Hetzner project | Root, or sudo without a password, and an ED25519 host key |
| Cost | Billed hourly by Hetzner. Deleting the server stops the bill. | No new cost |
| Hallvi checks | It can read the project and make a change there | It is the right server, accepts Hallvi's key, and gives administrator rights |
Hetzner token
- In the Hetzner Console, create a project only for Hallvi. The token can change everything in its project.
- In that project, go to Security, then API tokens, then Generate API token. Choose Read & Write. You cannot upgrade a Read token later.
- Paste it into the card and press Check and connect. To prove write access, Hallvi adds the application's public SSH key to the project.
Your own server
- Open a terminal on the server, as the user Hallvi should use.
- Run the command from the card. It adds Hallvi's key to
authorized_keys, prints one line and installs nothing. - Paste that line into the card and press Check this machine. Hallvi installs Docker later if it is missing.
It can reach everything on that server. Use a test server with nothing else on it.
GitHub
Connect GitHub for private repositories or automatic deployment. You can add a public repository and choose Only when I ask without connecting GitHub.
- Sign in on the GitHub page in Settings, or with Connect GitHub, and enter the code on GitHub.
- Install the Hallvi GitHub App on only the repositories you choose.
The GitHub App can write to those repositories. Hallvi writes only by opening pull requests from hallvi/ branches, and never merges. After you change its access on GitHub, press Check again in Hallvi.
Cloudflare
You need it only to publish at your own domain, when Cloudflare runs its DNS. Hallvi asks for a token limited to that one zone. See Public access.
